Resumen

GUTIERREZ F, María E; BALL VARGAS, Manuela S  y  MARQUEZ, Emilia. Sign, meaning and intersubjectivity: a cultural look. Educere [online]. 2008, vol.12, n.43, pp.689-695. ISSN 1316-4910.

In this paper we look at Vygotsky’s notion about sign starting from his first ideas which are based fundamentally in Pavlov, to the assumption of himself in his socio-communicative dimension. Then we look at other elaborations that have risen throughout history, particularly Pierce’s notion. We stand out the way these social signs are interiorized by the human species from intersubjective psychological processes in which people’s predisposition to communicate is measured. Throughout the article, the reader will be able to find our take on the subject, which is based, occasionally, on the interpretations some authors such as Llamas (1996), Sisto (1998), Arbeláez (2002) and Perinat (2002, 2006), among others, have had on these theories. On other topics, we go to the precursors of this research field to deepen in comprehending the linguistic sign as socio-cultural construction.

Palabras clave : linguistic sign; intersubjectivity; culture; social mediation; language.
