Abstract

LOPEZ GONZALEZ, Wilmer Orlando  and  VIVAS CALDERON, Fernando. Study of the preconceptions on the physical and chemical changes of matter in ninth grade students. Educere [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.45, pp.491-499. ISSN 1316-4910.

The aim of this paper was to do a study on the preconceptions or previous ideas about the topic of physical and chemical changes of matter. The importance of this study lays on allowing us to have a general vision about the topic, to consequently establish strategies that help achieving longed goals such as meaningful learning. A sample was chosen from basic education ninth-grade students. A questionnaire was used as an instrument. The results obtained showed in general the preconceptions the sample had on the topic, they lacked a scientific conceptual structure, despite the previous school preparation from their primary and basic education schooling. These ideas persist and are shaped as mental structures of some significance.
