In this paper we make a presentation about the importance of the subject medical semiology in acquiring the skills of a comprehensive medical profile. We review the concept, history, epistemological approach and make feasible proposals to improve teaching. We note in the medical record based on general data collection, symptoms, signs and interpreting them as the key driver in the exercise of the medical profession.
