DUNO, Maryelin; RIVERA, Nubia; RODRIGUEZ, Angie e SALAS, Ruth. Rabdomyolisis and acute renal injury in adolescents with Nefroptic Syndrome in debut. Salus [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.3, pp.18-21. ISSN 1316-7138.
Rhabdomyolysis is a rare condition in children that can cause acute renal failure. Nephrotic syndrome often occurs in preschool age, predominantly male subjects; debut outside this age range, acute renal failure, hypertension and hematuria are considered as factors for a poor prognosis. A clinical case of a male teen is described, who was admitted in the pediatric emergency presenting acute renal failure secondary to rhabdomyolysis. During hospitalization he presented nephrotic syndrome with signs of a poor prognosis requiring hemodialysis, acute renal biopsy and initiation of corticosteroid therapy.
