GONZALEZ-YARANGA, Yurzhel; CACERES-ESTRADA, Mitsy; ILLA-SIHUINCHA, Godofredo y RAMOS SERRANO, Shelby. Role of digitalization in business internationalization: a study with structural equations. Telos [online]. 2025, vol.27, n.2, pp.508-525. Epub 05-Dic-2025. ISSN 1317-0570. https://doi.org/10.36390/telos272.07.
The objective of the study was to evaluate how national contextual factors, organizational heritage, digital business strategies and internationalization strategy predict the optimal performance of companies when expanding internationally. The development of the study was quantitative in approach and causal explanatory design. The research was based on a probabilistic sampling, selecting a sample of 133 managers of companies engaged in foreign trade activities. Data collection was carried out by means of a 20-question questionnaire. The data were analyzed with PLS-SEM structural equations. The results of the study highlight the importance of digital platforms in reducing barriers to entry and access to international markets. The theoretical and practical implications suggest that companies should invest in technology and understand cultural particularities to improve their performance. In addition, organizational flexibility and innovation act as factors that expand their capabilities due to changes that companies can capitalize on and drive opportunities, while minimizing risks. This approach will enable companies involved in international business to not only enter new markets but also ensure their sustainability and global expansion.
