Resumen

CURTO PRIETO, Marta; ARANA-CUENCA, Ainhoa  y  BIEL-MAESO, Miriam. Educational Escape Room in Experimental Sciences: Performance and Satisfaction of Future Teachers. Telos [online]. 2025, vol.27, n.2, pp.526-543.  Epub 05-Dic-2025. ISSN 1317-0570.  https://doi.org/10.36390/telos272.08.

Nowadays, teenagers show less scientific vocation in the STEM area (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), due to the lack of relationship they find between learning science and the real world, being one of the main causes the teaching method of teachers from a traditional perspective. Therefore, it is necessary to change the teaching models and methodologies applied in the classroom to increase student interest, with gamification and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) being a viable option. In this sense, the objectives of this work are to analyze the academic performance, satisfaction and emotions generated in students of the Degree in Primary Education Teacher Training when they were faced with an escape room whose resolution required the application of the basic knowledge acquired in the subject of Experimental Sciences and to evaluate the interest aroused in future teachers for the use of this type of active methodologies in their Primary Education classrooms. Therefore, in the present study, an escape room was designed and implemented as a general review of the contents of Experimental Sciences and as a practical demonstration of an active methodology for future Primary Education teachers. Based on an apocalyptic story, combining an ICT tool with manipulative material, the students overcame challenges until they managed to create an electrical circuit. The performance and satisfaction index, as well as the emotions generated in the students, were analyzed, concluding that this experience motivated the participants, generating positive emotions and allowing them to put into practice the knowledge acquired in Experimental Sciences.

Palabras clave : escape room; emotions; gamification; primary education; satisfaction; science.
