This document analyzes the interaction of internal and external factors that determine the competitiveness of export-oriented companies in Colombia. Through a diagnosis, the opportunities and threats faced by the floriculture sector are identified and strategies are proposed to improve its competitiveness and export capacity. The importance of the study derives from the economic, social and environmental impact of the sector, as well as from the growth of flower exports in this country. From the problem statement, it is determined how the determinants of the competitiveness of flower companies with exporting projection in Colombia interact. The research addresses theoretical and conceptual elements related to the export process and competitiveness. The methodology used corresponds to a quantitative, cross-sectional and relational research. The variables of analysis include internal factors, external factors, requirements and benefits of exporting as determinants of competitiveness. For the collection of information, a previously validated instrument was used, with questions directed to flower producers and exporters. As a result, a deeper understanding of the competitiveness of flower companies in Colombia is obtained; in addition, strategies are defined to increase their export potential, promote integration and provide elements to consolidate them in new international markets.
