LOZANO ROSALES, Raymundo; CHAVEZ PLAZAS, Yuri Alicia  y  ORTIZ CORDERO, Gabriela. Transnational migration: an overview of the situation in Mexico and Colombia 2019-2024. Telos [online]. 2026, vol.28, n.1, pp.118-131.  Epub 05-Mayo-2026. ISSN 2343-5763.  https://doi.org/10.36390/telos281.12.

This article is the product of a joint investigation between the Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca University (Colombia) and the Polytechnic University of Tulancingo (Mexico). Its general objective was to understand the conditions and forms of immigration in a comparative manner. Methodologically, it followed a qualitative approach and corresponds to an analysis of the literature produced on the phenomenon of transnational immigration in each country: it answers questions such as: What is its dimension and variability in the last five years? What are the factors of expulsion and selection of settlement sites? What effects are reported in the countries? It constitutes an approach to the context of the migration crisis and the recorded experiences of migrants. Fifty articles and 20 documents from Mexico and Colombia were reviewed. It was found that, although they share deep structural elements, they arise from different contexts. The conclusion is that in both cases, these are persistent crises that reflect systematic failures of economic and political models, which have critically limited decent living conditions for segments of the population. However, the immediate triggers and migration narratives present particular nuances in each country.

Palabras clave : immigration; Mexico; Colombia; humanitarian crisis; dimensions; effects.
