Abstract

SIMON PEREZ, José Rafael. Proposal to Specify Types of Texts. SAPIENS [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.1, pp.148-162. ISSN 1317-5815.

Since the 70’ in the Text Linguistics’ field different typologies have attempted to give an account of the different types of texts. Some of them rely only on strictly linguistic classification criteria, but later, in the 80’, other tipological models based on multiple criteria appeared. The purpose of this paper is to present and characterize some of the most representative proposals that in the field of text lingiuistics arose during the 70’. To achieve this objective a documentary methodology was used. It was based on the critical reading and analysis of previous works on the mentioned topic. As regards to the results of the analysis it could be asserted that some of the typologies subject to our analysis had flaws in as much they only included one of the elements of the textuality process (the text for example) leaving aside others (the intertextor and the context). Therefore reinforcing the assertion stating that a textual typology, no matter what kind, necessarily has to point towards integrality. Consequently we think it is important to continue studying these topics as in the textual linguistic field there are still issues to solve and to clarify, such as text conceptualization and textual tipologies. In this regard it would be convenient to dedicate another work to the analysis of the proposals of the Dutch van Dijk (of the 70’ and 80’) and of the German Heinemann and Viehweger (1991).
