This research aims to determine the professional profile of the Sports Directors of the Venezuelan Higher Education Institutions. This concern arises from the need to understand the professional managers of university sports organizations. In addition, see the professional skills of the directors who run these organizations and / or institutions. This investigation is a systematic study that will start an academic discussion in order to produce reflection in this sports area. To support all the previous statements, it will be use the Venezuelan Sport Federation of Higher Education (2002), the Universities Act (1970), Soucie (1998; 2002), and Stier (2006). The study was a descriptive character field research under the positivist paradigm, questionnaires were used as instrument of data collection and the sample consisted of athletic directors of universities, applying a descriptive-percentage statistics. The result of the research showed that 60% of the sports directors selected corresponds to Physical Education teachers. In relation with degrees at a fourth level education, sports managers have completed higher studies in other areas of knowledge. It is concluded that the profile of the sports directors of the institutions of higher education in Venezuela relates mainly to teachers trained in the discipline of Physical Education.
