The planning and programming of the educational activity should be a systematic process linked to the actual conditions of the students in relationship with the skills they have developed and the one they must still improve. This article aims to determine the educational needs and the evaluations made by the teacher on the learnings acquired by the students in the field of the discourse. The theoretical framework consists of discourse studies (Calsamiglia and Tusón, 1999), systemic functional linguistics (Halliday, 1982) and some pedagogical approaches (Martinez, 2001; Denyer, Furnémont, Poulain and Vanloubeeck 2007). The methodology used was qualitative, interpretive, as part of a design based on investigation-action, which want to establish, along with the participants of the educational process, the required skills for a discursive pedagogy. One of the phases of this investigation was the analysis of two instruments applied to a language teacher of a group of students from third year of secondary education. The results suggest that the information the teacher has of his students is not adequate and that does not allow her to correctly evaluate the development that each one has reached in their learning in the field of language.
