Abstract

This article has as purpose, and it is to characterize the schooling dynamic of public instruction in the Caracas province between 1830 and 1854. The review of education in the Caracas province is part of a broader project of research related to the study of school education institutionalization process in Venezuela. Methodologically, the study of schooling in the Caracas province between 1830 and 1854 is addressed from primary sources: it has been revised available information in the Nation’s general archive, republic sub-fund, section Ministry of public instruction. It was consulted two types of documents to understand the institutionalization process of public instruction. At the moment to study schooling in the Caracas province, it was noticed an increasing process between 1830 and 1854, the available information in the General Management of Public Instruction reports a growing number of schools and a high number of schools near counties of Caracas. It is identified in the province an important factor related to the settlement process of school in the first half of 19th century.
