Medication adherence is an important health care component and a determining factor in the metabolic control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Due to the multiple factors involved, this issue has become a challenge for the medical staff and a focus of interest for many researchers, who have developed theoretical models of compliance, exploring the causes and associating strategies designed to help improve compliance.
