Malaria prevalence is determined by environmental factors, while its succesfull control depends on a detailed knowledge of its epidemiology, including the influence of economic and social factors. The determination of such factors, linked to the risk of infection, in Yaguaraparo Parish, Cajigal Municipality, Sucre State, was the aim of the present research through a prevalence survey as to explore the related factors, collecting individual, familiar, community and environmental information. This assessed a 3.3% prevalence, and non significant statistic associations of the malarial records, with variables such as: water supply from an untreated source, open stools disposition in the outskirts of human dwellings, wattle and daub houses. Results refer basically an association of environmental factors with malarial infections, pointing to the needed development of new strategies in promotion, prevention and services, as a starting point toward the control of the infection in the Parish.
