Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the characteristics sociodemográficas that ready to food insecurity in homes of adolescents of a community of the Cojedes State. It was made a descriptive, cross-sectional study and design of field. The sample was nonprobabilística intentional being conformed by 119 representatives of adolescents who attend the Bolivariano Grammar school "Caballero Malpica" of Macapo. In order to determine the perceived level of food security in the homes, a scale adapted and validated for Venezuela was used. In order to determine the socioeconomic stratification of the familiar group the Graffar method was used modified for Venezuela. According to the scale of used food security, 54.6% of the representatives perceived their homes like insurances and 44.5% like slightly uncertain, 60.5% of the homes belong to socioeconomic layer IV; that is to say, that is in relative poverty. There was statistically significant association between the socioeconomic layer and the food security of the studied homes (t c = 0,89; p = 0,000). As soon as to the endogenous factors that determined the food security of these homes, one was that the poverty is one of the most influential factors. Without embargo, although most of the families they are in situation of relative poverty, the food security in these homes predominates, probably because the feeding is perceived like priority.
