Abstract

The frequency of infection was determined by Chlamydia trachomatis (Ct) and associated factors in 100 women, whom underwent a search of cervical uterine cancer in the Clinic Anticancer Society of Maracay from Abril to June of 2008. Specimens were collected by endocervical swab. Ct and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Ng) were tested by Polymerase Reaction Chain (PCR). Ct DNA was found in18% of the women, Ng DNA was not detected any of them, among associated factors to Ct infection only was statistical significant previously episodes of urogenital infections, was not relation between Ct infection and cervical cytology result. The frequency of Ct was elevated in relation to the studied population, additionally; the results suggest the necessity to review the oriented activities to educate about the preventive measures of Sexually Transmitted Infections
