Abstract
SILVA, Ivana. Epístemo-Methodology: Multiple views to academic research. Comunidad y Salud [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.9-14. ISSN 1690-3293.
Thoughts of Modernity are presented as a historical space in which several visions of the word are juxtaposed, originating methodological tendencies to enter a subject in research. In this context, these methodological tendencies are studied from the most classical visions as rationalism, empiricism, positivism, structuralfunctionalism, pragmatism, existentialism, romanticism, Marxism, and phenomenology. There are also studies on other methodological tendencies as complexity, popular thoughts and feminist episteme. Some of these methodological tendencies are analyzed in this study from the quantitative perspective: Descriptive, experimental, exploratory, correlational, transversal, and longitudinal researches. There are other methodological tendencies which are analyzed from the qualitative perspective: ethnography, life story, and so on. It is found that others methodological tendencies appear from postmodern looks and complex with the complementary paradigm, in which interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and pluridisciplinary are presented as integrated and reconciled options of knowledge. All of these epistemo-methodological options are considered as a challenge in order to build knowledge in a educative context. This context is very important because it studies social matters all over the word.
Keywords : Epistemo-methodology; modernity; methodological tendencies.
