Abstract

Psoriasis therapeutic schemes encompasses old therapies based on medical genetics; although therapeutical protocols are made, it is really important to know the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of our population and the quality of life, to establish local protocols adjusted to the medical needs of the social reality of each population group. Objective: To describe epidemiological and clinical characteristics in patients treated at the Dermatology Department of the City Hospital "Dr. Enrique Tejera "(CHET)since 2002 to 2012. Material and Methods: Retrospective study, documentary revision of medical records, dated from 2002 to 2012 with intentional sampling technique that included the entire population of patients of psoriasis consulting. Results: The study included 178 patients (50.56% male and 49.44% female) with a mean age of 44.11 years with standard desviation= 11 years of 17.778 years. The most common clinical presentation was P. vulgar 77% followed by P. guttata 10%. 94% of patients received topical treatment followed by biological therapy 52%. Regarding the socioeconomic status the most common Graffar corresponded to layer IV (relative poverty) 51% and Graffar III (middle-middle class) 31%. The origin, the district of Valencia was the largest influx followed by municipalities: Libertador (16%) and Carlos Arvelo (8%). %). The quality of life was demonstrated by the index quality dermatological life (DLQI) obtaining 76.43% regular, acceptable 51.29%, 41.23% good and 10% bad. Conclusion: To begin treatment protocols tailored to the social determinants of community is important to start by understanding the impact population.
