The doctor has for centuries been a very important person for society, given roles and functions variables that have changed over the years. In medical training should pay special attention to the skills that students should acquire for rural medical practice as the current profile required by employers of health. The general aim of this research was analyze the perceptions of the graduates of the School of Medicine Carabobo based on their acquired skills for exercise as Rural Medical. We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study, with a population comprised of 300 graduates of the School of Medicine in 2009 of core valence of the University of Carabobo. The sample was selected by systematic random method with a confidence level of 95% and a sampling error of 5%, was formed by 171 graduates. As a result it was found that graduates demonstrate competence in Research, Education and social functions of the rural doctor in 62%, 57% and 53%, respectively, and the functions of monitoring, administrative and Forensic Medicine, demonstrated insecurity and incompetence. We conclude that after completion of this research it was found that graduates know their limitations in each fulfill duties as a rural doctor and especially training deficiencies and judgments presented markedly evident in the area of competence of the Medico-Legal and Monitoring functions.
