Breast cancer is a problem of public health in Venezuela and all over the world. Primary and secondary prevention is essential to reduce the mortality rate. A properly planned and organized early detection with screening mammography is the cornerstone to control this disease. In Venezuela, the entire program must start at primary and high school level with recommendations for main detection. A monthly breast self-examination must be performed in asymptomatic women with a moderate risk from 20 years old, and in women from 25years old, the monthly self-examination should be complemented with annual clinical evaluations by a mastologist specialist. In asymptomatic patients with moderate risk it should start using mammography from age 40, with an annual clinical assessment. In asymptomatic patients with high risk factors should be personalized. In this group, highlighted cases of history of relatives with breast cancer, baseline mammogram should be performed 10 years earlier at the age of emergence of this disease in the family, and in cases of a risk ≥1.7% by the Gail Method, mammography and a clinical annual assessment should be performed from the moment this risk is identified. Genetic studies must be made for verification as a suspicion of germline mutations. The patient should see a specialist with the presence of any signs or symptoms in breast or armpits appearance of some signs or symptoms in the breast or axillar should see a specialist.
