The urgent social and ethical need of giving satisfactory medical treatment to numerous urban patients with localized cutaneous leishmaniasis in the State of Trujillo, Venezuela, without mucosal complications among more than 2000 cases studied since 1984, led us to the synthesis and perilesional use of a complex antimonial pentavalent with glucamine (ULAMINA). The procedure for the preparation of ULAMINA is summarized and its composition is compared as a kind of antimony, the concentration of chlorines, the density, the pH and the osmolarity with a sample of three similar commercial imports. The satisfactory clinical results in perilesional treatment of 858 patients are reported, with 5% of the cases abandoning treatment without cicatrization of their lesions.
