SANCHEZ-GONZALEZ, Elvira et al. New records of potential yellow fever and mayaro vectors from Guarico State, Venezuela: First record of Haemagogus janthinomys Dyar from the central plains of Venezuela. Bol Mal Salud Amb [online]. 2014, vol.54, n.2, pp.250-253. ISSN 1690-4648.
Haemagogus anastasionis Dyar and Hg. equinus Theobald were captured from a rural area in the Roscio municipality, Guarico State, Venezuela, and Hg. janthinomys was reported for the first time from the central lowland plains subregion of Venezuela. These findings represent potential risk factors for the emergence of arboviruses and their transmission. We thus recommend that the respective health authorities undertake entomological and epidemiological surveillance in this region.
