This article presents the importance that the thought of Rodolfo Kusch currently has for philosophical, ethical, political and aesthetic ideas that are developed in Latin America. From a phenomenological approach, the main characteristics of who is the ‘Other’ are defined, in his-her cultural and personal condition; namely, the native who forms part of a shared and lived otherness. The ‘Other’ is interpreted as a subject for encounter, in his presence departing from inter-subjectivity and e recognition ethic.
