Resumen
CAMPO-REDONDO, María. Cinema as Generation of Knowledge: "Oriana", Venezuelan Films as Tools to Teach Family Counseling. Enlace [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.1, pp.25-45. ISSN 1690-7515.
The goal of this article is to deliberate about the need to introduce technologies and didactic materials that generate knowledge about Family Counseling in Venezuela. The article presents a critical reflection about the importance of using cinema in education. It proposes a method of group teaching, and for these purposes, it documents a case study, where the Venezuelan film "Oriana" (directed by Fina Torres) was used in a Graduate course on Family Counseling. The projection and posterior discussion of the movie was good as a "resource-means" in order to facilitate and generate knowledge about Venezuelan family dynamics. The methodology employed was based upon the principles of Cinema-Education and learning in action. We designed a set of activities that wound up with the realization of a didactic guide on behalf of the seminarys participants that was good to link the courses theoretical concepts with those presented in the movie. The article also documents some of the participants life experiences regarding the utilization of cinema in classrooms. The article concludes that forums on films are highly fructiferous and didactic strategies, and they are recommendable in teaching Family Counseling.
