Iuri Mijailovich Lotman (1922-1993) was an investigator of Tartu University (Estonia) with a recognized international trajectory, whose contributions in the field of the Semiotics of Culture extended the borders of the then so called Soviet Union, in spite of the difficulties and censorships imposed by the communist government to the diffusion of their work. According to Caceres Sanchez (in Lotman, 1996), this work included a whole diversity of problems beyond the Semiotics theory, to enter itself in mythology, cinema, history of culture, aesthetic one, theater, Literature, among others. The present theoretical reflection tries to add a value more to the Lotman contributions, when examining his text La semiosfera II. Semiótica de la cultura, del texto, de la conducta y del espacio (1998) and showing them as the bases to construct a knowledge theory.
