Introduction:

The promotion of adequate and healthy eating in childhood can favor the prevention of overweight and chronic non-communicable diseases in adulthood. For this, the school space and the teacher's work are fundamental.

Objective:

To identify research developed in Brazil, in a school environment, which had teachers as the target of actions of food and nutrition education (FNE).

Method:

Mixed systematic review of the literature, guided by the question "Research carried out in Brazil, in a school environment, have teachers as the target of actions on themes about food or FNE?". Four large databases were used to search for articles.

Results:

20 articles published between 2009 and 2019 that met the inclusion criteria were selected. There was little presence of FNE activities in the school environment that can be maintained in the long term and absence of studies on the development of educational material to facilitate the approach of FNE in a transversal and interdisciplinary way in schools.

Conclusion:

The findings of the present review show that it is necessary for teachers to receive training in EAN in order to be promoters of healthy eating, as well as access to appropriate teaching materials for working on this topic in schools.
