GIORDANO, Cassio Cristiano; KISTEMANN JUNIOR, Marco Aurélio; OLIVEIRA, Paulo Cesar y HAETINGER, Claus. Financial education and problem solving in the brazilian curriculum proposal. This article discusses the insertion and expansion of Financial Education (EF) in the Brazilian Basic Education curricula, with the publication of the National Curricular Parameters (PCN) and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), from the perspective of Problem Solving. This is a qualitative, exploratory research. Our investigations were divided into two moments: in the first, we focus on the main guiding documents of national curricula in search of guidelines for the promotion of EF from the perspective of Problem Solving; in the second, we analyze the presence of EF in the school environment, in the exploration of institutional didactic materials. The results point to weaknesses and strengths in the expansion of EF in the approaches of the analyzed teaching materials. If, on the one hand, we still identify confusion between Financial Mathematics and EF and some conceptual errors, on the other hand, we recognize attempts at interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary articulation, proposing to the student a broad reflection about their socioeconomic reality, to sharpen their criticality, as well as the elaboration and resolution of problems, for their cognitive and attitudinal development, with eventual change of posture in face of the problems that affect their personal life and their society.
