Abstract
MARQUES DE VASCONCELOS, Beatriz Nogueira; NARDI, Letícia; SANTOS, Luiza de Oliveira and ALMEIDA, Luana Costa. Help me to look!”: the quality of school through children. Areté [online]. 2025, vol.11, n.22, pp.2-22. Epub Nov 17, 2025. ISSN 2443-4566. https://doi.org/10.55560/arete.2025.22.11.1.
This article explores the meanings children construct about school quality. The main objective is to investigate children's views on school quality and the meanings they associate with the school environment. The study reflects on the social quality of education based on the works of Silva, Bertagna, Sordi, Bertagna, and Oliveira, while the methodology and analysis of actions with children are grounded particularly in the historical-cultural perspective. Creative devices from cinema pedagogy, inspired by Migliorin, Pipano, and Bergala, are also utilized. The results indicate that, from children's perspectives, school quality is associated with diverse pedagogical experiences, positive human relationships, and environments that promote playfulness, creativity, and social interaction. A distinction was also observed between positive and negative experiences, with some students expressing dissatisfaction with school. The study concludes that children's perception of school quality is multifaceted and linked both to planned activities and everyday events. Children's contributions reveal a complex understanding of school life, highlighting the importance of listening to them and evaluating the quality of education provided to them.
