Abstract

CASTILLO-RETAMAL, Franklin; VASQUEZ-VIELMA, Sofía; LANDEROS-DIAZ, Emilia  and  FAUNDEZ-CASANOVA, César. Preparation of trainee teachers to deal with school violence in the classroom. Areté [online]. 2025, vol.11, n.22, pp.56-65.  Epub Nov 17, 2025. ISSN 2443-4566.  https://doi.org/10.55560/arete.2025.22.11.4.

School violence refers to any act of physical, verbal or psychological aggression, which can affect both students and teachers, generating a climate of fear and deteriorating the learning environment. The aim of this study was to determine the level of preparation of teachers in training for episodes of school violence at a university in south-central Chile. A quantitative observational, cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative, non-experimental, cross-sectional methodology was used. The results show that, in terms of mean comparisons of the different items of the questionnaire, men reported a higher degree of training in the dimension of knowledge of the trainee teacher, although in general terms no statistically significant differences were observed. It is concluded that there is a need to continue exploring in teacher training on school violence and to develop strategies to ensure equitable and effective training for all future education professionals.
