Abstract

SANTINI TAKAYAMA, Fabíola  and  SIQUELLI, Sônia Aparecida. Professional Identities constructed by curricula in physical education bsc courses in federal institutes - brazil. Areté [online]. 2026, vol.12, n.23, e122303.  Epub Jan 30, 2026. ISSN 2443-4566.  https://doi.org/10.55560/arete.2026.23.12.3.

Professional identities are constructed and reconstructed, in a dynamic process of the teacher's interaction with the context and the relationships that are established with others and with the world, as well as their internal and significant issues. The objective of this article was to analyze how the construction of the professional identity of Physical Education teachers is presented in the pedagogical projects of undergraduate courses at the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology, located in Brazil. Methodologically, documentary research was carried out in seven pedagogical projects, and as an analysis methodology we used Ball's policy cycle and Bardin's content analysis. The results revealed that the professional identities made possible point to a critical and reflective teacher, however, some contradictions expressed in the prescribed curricula are reinforced due to the concern in complying with legal guidelines.
