Reading comprehension is fundamental for academic development; however, basic education students present significant difficulties in this competency. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a reading motivational processes program in reading comprehension among Seventh Grade students at a public educational institution in Durán, Ecuador 2023. Applied research was conducted with a quasi-experimental design, quantitative approach, and two groups of 30 students each (control and experimental). A 28-item reading comprehension test, validated by experts with Kuder-Richardson Alpha reliability of 0,936, was applied to evaluate literal, inferential, and critical levels. Results showed significant improvement in the experimental group: beginning level decreased from 56,7% to 16,7%, while achievement level increased from 6,7% to 33,3%. The t-Student test (t=7,616, p<0,000) confirmed the program's effectiveness, especially at inferential and critical levels. It is concluded that integrating motivational elements with structured pedagogical strategies significantly improves reading comprehension in basic education.
