Nowadays, graphic organizers have become an ally for the teaching work, by facilitating the deployment of psychological functions as part of the management of the teaching and learning process. For this reason, the present study is developed with the purpose of describing the graphic organizers that contribute to the development of critical thinking and metacognition. It should be noted that the research was characterized as a descriptive documentary-bibliographic study. With the results, it can be stated that graphic organizers are of great pedagogical-educational importance and usefulness, in the sense that besides facilitating classroom dynamics, they allow consolidating study habits and, consequently, developing critical thinking and providing a metacognitive effect, making it possible for students to perceive the ways they learn.
