The use of a term or concept requires undertaking a certain theoretical pilgrimage. This article proposes a journey to conceptualize the term research culture. A journey has been set that first ventures into the concept of knowledge, general culture and the problems of research culture. Second, it frames research as a process and intellectual product to give way to the attitude of the researcher, a necessary characterization to locate the actor of the research culture. Following a documentary investigation, with a bibliographic design, a theoretical tour is offered that assigns an approach to the concept in question, as a contribution to its construction from the perspective of the social context where it is developed. The end presentation, it is stated that the principles and values that guide the research culture are presented based on the positive aspects of its projection in an integration that attributes particular characteristics to outline its definition.
