The purpose of this article is to investigate how social responsibility is characterized and interrelated in the training of professionals in university contexts. It refers to a documentary research with bibliographic design. Considering the analyses carried out, it is stated that the university has a fundamental role and an unavoidable commitment in the training of new professionals oriented towards the construction of a fairer and more sustainable society. To this end, the university must make a real appropriation of the model of social responsibility and integrate it into all areas of its academic activity, making use of various mechanisms and strategies that allow this model to materialize in university education and thus guarantee conscious and socially responsible professionals to face the ethical, social and environmental challenges of today's society.
