Scientific production has garnered special attention over the past decade due to the massive rise of technologies, a phenomenon from which Latin America is no exception. This paper analyzes the scientific production in this region, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities. The study employs qualitative systematic reviews of scientific articles, reports from international organizations, and databases from the last 10 years as its main methodological resource. Despite the region's rich biodiversity and progress in areas such as biotechnology and renewable energy, its global scientific contribution remains modest. Additionally, the study reveals that Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina lead the regional production, with a focus on health sciences, agriculture, and engineering. Overcoming these challenges will enable the region to become a benchmark in solving global problems.
