The protection of children is a fundamental right and a priority in contemporary public policy. The study aims to analyze the theoretical foundations that underpin child protection policies and their contemporary challenges in the management of child advocacy, with an emphasis on the municipal level. A systematic theoretical-integrative review was developed, complemented by a bibliometric analysis of 87 articles published between 2019 and 2024. The results show an expansion in the academic field, structured around a rights-based approach, intersectoral coordination, and integrated management models. Limitations associated with budgetary constraints, institutional fragmentation, and insufficient specialized training of personnel were identified. To ensure effective child protection, it is necessary to strengthen inter-institutional coordination, professionalize local management, and adapt public policies to current challenges.
