The objective of the recent research was to describe the development of critical thinking from an early age through problem-based learning. It corresponds to a descriptive study guided by a bibliographic design. The units of analysis consisted of theses and scientific articles belonging to refereed journals, among others, considering perspectives allusive to the subject. In conclusion, it is established that there is an imperative need to develop curiosity, reflection and criticality in the learner, in order to generate thinking individuals and promoters of problem solving in their areas of study, recognizing that this process is easily developed through Problem Based Learning (PBL), a methodology that promotes and deploys the potentialities of critical thinking, through different mental processes.
