The objective of this article was to comparatively analyze the comprehensive training of students in face-to-face and virtual study modalities. The research was quasi-experimental using a sample of 23 students of the year 2019, Cycle 2, who received statistics classes under the in- person modality, and 49 students of the year 2021, Cycle 2, who received classes under the virtual modality, using the Mann-Whitney test. Among the results, a significant difference was determined between virtual and in- person learning, since a better academic performance was evidenced in the averages of the face-to-face group than in the group of the digital environment. Therefore, it is concluded that the virtual modality lacks a better integration of the resources provided by ICT to improve the teaching and learning process, while in the in- person modality there was better empathy and academic performance.
