The objective of this study is to identify the factors that determine the Rural Development of peasant communities. A literature review was conducted based on a search of scientific articles in high impact databases such as Scopus and SciELO, finally including 18 articles published during the last five years. The results allowed identifying four main categories: integrated and collaborative approaches, public policies, economic challenges and access to education and use of technologies, all oriented to the strengthening of Rural Development. It is concluded that an integrated and collaborative approach, based on specific public policies, adequate education and the incorporation of technology, are fundamental pillars to promote Rural Development and achieve a prosperous future in rural areas.
