The objective is to analyze the graduation profile from the parents' perception. The research was based on a descriptive documentary type with bibliographic design of 18 scientific articles. A key task in basic education is that there must be a correct relationship between learning and the needs and demands of the socioeconomic and productive environment; it is necessary to integrate real work situations into school activities; it is necessary to develop significant skills useful for productive performance instead of transmitting purely theoretical knowledge. In this context, the competency-based approach is key for the integral development of students. It is necessary for students to learn by doing, to stop being theoretical and to be able to apply what they learn in their daily lives.
