The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning (PBL) for the development of research skills in the area of Science and Technology in high school students. The inquiry was quasi-experimental, with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 65 students in the 4th grade of high school, 32 students were in the experimental group and 33 students were in the control group. The sampling was non-probabilistic by convenience. The data collection technique was an objective test. This instrument obtained a reliability of 0.754 according to the Spearman-Brown formula. The results indicated an improvement in the investigative skills of the experimental group in comparison with the control group and it was concluded that the investigative skills after applying Problem-Based Learning improved significantly.
