The objective of this study was to analyze the management of hospital solid waste in order to reduce secondary impacts in hospitals in Peru. The study was a non-experimental systematic review of scientific articles, with respect to the study population, 15 scientific articles were used for analysis. Competencies should be developed in health teams in the final disposal of solid hospital waste, through workshops on the correct segregation of the source of medical waste, to facilitate the efficiency and safety, handling, transport, treatment and disposal of waste from health facilities. It is important to carry out self-care training, training and inspection of the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment, as well as improving preventive actions to avoid accidents or occupational diseases.
