The main purpose of this research study was to determine the level of relationship between meritocracy and job performance of workers in a UGEL in Nuevo Chimbote, 2023. The research had a quantitative approach, descriptive and correlational design. There was a non-probabilistic sample of 81 employees. In addition, data collection was carried out through the application of two questionnaires developed by the author. The meritocracy questionnaire with three dimensions was elaborated with 22 items and the job performance questionnaire with five dimensions had 25 items. In conclusion, the direct and significant relationship between the variables, meritocracy and job performance, was proved by Spearman's Rho statistic = 0.473 with a p-value = 0.000.
