The purpose of this research focused on reflecting on meaningful learning in mathematics, in combination with emotional education. As a methodology, a qualitative phenomenological approach was used, which was carried out through observation and a semi-structured interview with 10 university teachers recorded in a notebook. The results allowed detecting that mathematics learning is meaningful when mathematical contents are connected with real life situations and emotions, thus linking students' interest with learning. Therefore, it was concluded that in order to achieve meaningful learning, teachers should include pedagogical strategies in their teaching process, such as: the integration of emotional aspects, emotional contextualization, an emotionally safe learning environment, reflective action and formative evaluation focused on integral academic progress.
