This study analyzed youth participation in the Special District of Santiago de Cali, covering both formal and informal aspects. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was used, based on an in-depth bibliographic and documentary analysis. The results showed that factors such as demographic changes, socio-political events, social perceptions and technologies have influenced youth participation. Although they have faced barriers such as discrimination and the digital divide, young people have used ICTs to mobilize and demand change. The 2021 protests highlighted the importance of youth participation in the struggle for social justice; despite progress, it has been crucial to continue promoting the inclusion of youth in decision-making processes to ensure equitable development in the region. It was concluded, therefore, that the effective integration of youth in the district of Santiago de Cali has been fundamental for its future.
