The general objective of the research was to describe strategic management and tourism development. The research was carried out from a quantitative perspective, through the recovery, compilation and critical analysis of documentary and bibliographic references, with the purpose of describing the topic addressed. It was supported by a bibliographic design of documentary type, a research process was carried out where the study population was basically based on written documents such as refereed works, among others. In addition, the survey technique was used to obtain data. The analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive methods were also used. We worked with a sample of 382 people. It is concluded that the companies in the tourism sector in the district of Huamachuco, in association with specialists in the tourism sector, should develop strategies to improve their management in the short term in order to have a greater capacity to serve customers.
