The general objective of the research was to analyze environmental contamination in the Yahuarcocha lagoon, in the Ibarra Canton. The research method was based on the quantitative approach, using the collection and analysis of a documentary-bibliographic typology. In addition, field and systematic observation was carried out, which allowed us to obtain in-depth information on polluting elements that affect the ecosystem. A questionnaire was applied. In conclusion, it is necessary to sensitize the population on the need to contribute to the care of the environment, established in the Ecuadorian legal regulations, in order to promote environmental awareness and help prevent pollution in the Yahuarcocha lagoon, promoting sustainable practices.
