JAQUEZ-POLANCO, José Mercedes. The teacher as influencer: Social media, ethics, and professional image in the digital age. Koinonía [online]. 2025, vol.10, n.20, pp.245-263.  Epub 04-Jul-2025. ISSN 2542-3088.  https://doi.org/10.35381/r.k.v10i20.4653.

Social media platforms provide opportunities for teachers to project their professional identity and image outside the classroom. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the ethical opportunities and risks that teachers face in their role as digital influencers from the classroom. To this end, a systematic review of 37 studies was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review (PRISMA) guidelines. According to the findings, social media promotes pedagogical innovation, collaborative learning, flexible continuing education, and strengthens self-efficacy and professional well-being. Thus, the impact of social media on the profession is ambivalent. Therefore, the key to taking advantage of opportunities and mitigating risks lies in the articulation between ethical and digital training, clear institutional policies, and critical teaching communities capable of self-regulating their presence on social media
