Qallwa weaving is a Cultural Heritage of the Nation in Peru. The objective of this study is to demonstrate how this traditional practice functions as a tool for women’s empowerment in rural areas of Cajamarca. A mixed approach was used, techniques such as non-participant observation and survey, applied to a sample of 30 women weavers, the dimensions that converge in women's empowerment are examined: resources, agency, and achievements. Among the results, it is confirmed that the practice of weaving in qallwa carries identity value, generates its own income, community support networks and provides a greater voice to artisans in local decision-making spaces. It is concluded that weaving in qallwa, being the intangible cultural heritage of the nation, is also an engine of social and symbolic transformation, which influences to reduce gender gaps in a rural context.
