The general objective of this research was to determine the right of children and adolescents to participate in mediation processes for family disputes. It was developed from the quantitative paradigm, framed from a documentary-bibliographic design. For this purpose, Ecuadorian legislation and national doctrine that has dealt with the subject were examined, according to several perspectives, making use of scientific articles, theses, laws and norms. A survey was carried out in the city of Ibarra, Province of Imbabura, to members of different families who resorted to the Conflict Resolution Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador. It is concluded that it is pertinent to develop in extenso in future research the fact of disregarding the rights of children and adolescents due to adult-centered criteria that begin in the bosom of the family.
